But let me tell you something. These chips ARE tomato soup. But not just run-of-the-mill, condensed, mixed with water, tab on the can for easy opening tomato soup. I’m talking fresh from the deli down the road with real chunks of tomatoes that have been lovingly chopped and mashed, swirling with fresh cut basil from the garden, simmered for hours to bring out every nuance of flavor kind of tomato soup. Never before has a bag of chips brought me to tears.

Did you finish the whole thing?

I did. And just like real tomato soup I was full, had a warm belly, and ready for a delightful nap afterwards. But I also had no dishes to wash. Double points!

Thoughts on the packaging?

Very nice. Super clean and fresh with the vegetables exploding out at me. It looks like I can touch the dew on the tomatoes. Man being a food photographer would be fun. “Umm, Steve. Can I get another light misting on tomato two. And make sure the glare on that basil piece isn’t too overwhelming ok? Why is the intern eating the models?” It also has a nice “all natural” seal stamped on there telling me it’s healthier than a Twinkie.

Stand-alone snack or with something else?

Grilled cheese. ‘Nuff said.

Sum up your experience eating this snack in one word.

Lovesoup.

Where were you when you ate this snack?

Well I was curled up by a roaring fire reading a good romance novel while the snow slowly blanketed the outside world. In my head at least. I might have just been in my office lighting matches and reading LOL cats. Probably that. I love LOL cats.

Incredible. One of my long time favorite go to snacks. Super simple. Super delicious. Actually it's probably the only Pop Tarts I like because they aren't some super girly foo-foo berry too sweet flavor. I also don't ever toast them. For some reason they are fine just the way they are. It's rare to find anything so consistent in your life. Especially in a box. On a shelf. Always the same. Always delicious. Don't get me started on the non-frosted cousin of these Pop-Tarts. Who DOESN'T want frosting on their Tarts? Sacrilegious.

Did you finish the whole thing?

Boxes and boxes and boxes of these have been consumed prior to this review.

Would you buy it again?

It’s consistently on my weekly shopping list and has been forever.

Did taste like it looks?

It tastes like sucking on a stick of pure cinnamon while kayaking through a river of sugary frosting while laughing and absorbing the sunshine. So yes.

Stand-alone snack or with something else?

Milk. Somehow, in some crazy messed up universe I live in I actually prefer drinking milk with these to any Oreo or chocolate chip cookie I’ve ever had. I’m screwed in the head I think.

Best place to eat to this snack?

Literally anywhere. I would eat this on my death-bed while the doctor told me I can never eat sugar again because of my severe diabetes. I’d have to interrupt him to grab some of these out of my bed to snack on while listening intently.

Recession special! Recession buster! We really do run the whole spectrum don't we? This is actually an old classic favorite of mine when growing up. Pretty straight-forward right? Butter on a saltine. But you know, honestly, its better than any of those other offerings out there - the cheese on cheese crackers, peanut butter crackers, the questionable peanut butter + jelly crackers, etc, etc. I guess its a less is more thing in this case. Simple and delicious. And actually, I used to use the Can't Believe It's Not Butter stuff - I liked the consistency. The best part though, its probably the cheapest snack we've reviewed. So cheap, like in the case of me "stealing" it from my local cafe where I get a Diet Coke in the morning, that it was free. Yahtzee!

Thoughts on the packaging?

Brilliant. Really set the industry on its ear with this one. Its almost like…art.

Best place to eat to this snack?

In bed, duh! Just kidding, gross, butter and crumbs in bed. I don’t know, maybe after getting back from a ride on your friend’s BMX’s back pegs or even handle-bars after hitting your local public pool?

Would you buy it again?

Well, I didn’t actually “buy” it, so…

Stand-alone snack or with something else?

One of those quarter waters, shaped like a old oak barrel with the aluminum peel back lid.

High-brow or low-brow?

How low can you go?

If you haven't had these you are either crazy, not from the US or allergic to peanuts. It's popcorn (amazing) covered in caramel (amazing) with peanuts scattered about. It's pretty straight forward, but super delicious. And to boot it only has 8 ingredients. THAT is how you make a legendary snack!

What time period did you take the DeLorean to in order to get this box?

Straight back to 1953! Actually, now that I think about it, it may have just been a Cracker Barrel. Well, I guess that is the same thing.

Thoughts on the packaging?

Absolutely love the throwback to the old classic. Felt like I was eating an antique. It’s good thing to know that the prizes still suck at 50 years though.

High-brow or low-brow?

It’s so quintessential and low-brow that it is high-brow. Think about it.

Best place to eat to this snack?

Baseball game. Duh. Except the part where baseball is boring and sucks. So I’m gonna go with Jonas Brothers concert on this one.

Where were you when you ate this snack?

Some random hotel in I’mNotSure, Texas. Took the picture on top of a microwave in my room. Super classy.

Pros and cons?

Pros: Most bang for your buck. But when did candy bars hit the $.99 mark??? Cons: Triple packaged!! I know I’m not the only person to have almost eaten one with the paper wrapper still on it!

Would you buy it again?

More like buy stock in it. Blue chip of snacks.

Where were you when you at this snack?

Where WASN’T I? Pretty much everywhere I’ve EVER been in life. I’ve eaten a lot of Mambas in my day.

High-brow or low-brow?

Like Levi’s 501’s it someone exists between both worlds perfectly.

Did you finish the whole thing?

That’s a lot of taffy hanging in the stomach, but yeah, I did. Come on, like you really think you’re “just going to save the Raspberry for later.”

It's like a cookie….but in bar form! Genius. I grabbed one of these at my buddies bike shop after an event they had the other day. It really is the perfect food for people on the go. It's handy and crazy filling. In fact it is so handy that I have compiled a comprehensive list of places that this snack would be perfect for:

1. On a boat. (one hand on steering wheel, one hand nom'ing on a Kashi bar)

2. With a goat. (Goats make great company but don't like raisins so more for you!)

3. In the rain. (The yogurt-y coating makes it water proof……ish)

4. On a train. (On the way to Hogwarts)

5. In the dark. (Ghosts also dislike raisins)

6. In a tree. (Have you ever tried to eat a sandwich and climb a tree?)

7. In a car. (Again, one hand operation. Unless you drive stick. Then you are screwed)

8. In a box. (Especially a padded one. They are called cells also. Not boxes)

9. With a fox. (Fantastic!)

10. In a house. (I'm currently taking full advantage of this one)

11. With a mouse. (And probably this one)

12. Here. (Done!)

13. There. (About to be!)

14. ANYWHERE! (See. Perfect on the go snack. Proof.)

In fact it is so handy that I have compiled a comprehensive list of places that this snack would be perfect for:

13. There. (About to be!)

14. ANYWHERE! (See. Perfect on the go snack. Proof.)

Thoughts on the packaging?

Love the simple white and purple. Still trying to figure out the Stonehenge looking oatmeal cookies dancing on the bottom though. Help me out. What am I missing? Balanced part of my diet?? Is Kashi super excited about Portal 2 coming this holiday season like I am also. Is that cookie traveling through blue and out of orange. Hey Steam, check me!

Who would like it better Sam-I-Am or Unnamed second character?

Well I’m no psychic but I’m gonna say that Unnamed second character would be very adamant about not trying it because of his preconceived notions about oatmeal raisin cookies and maybe a bad memory from his childhood. But in the end Sam-I-Am (who we all know is quite rhythmic and convincing) would get unnamed second character to LOVE this bar and they would probably like it equally in The End.

Stand-alone snack or with something else?

It actually paired quite nicely with the water I was drinking. Kind of had that “I’m still healthy cause I’m made by Kashi, even though I taste like a delicious cookie, so you should stick with some healthy H20″ kinda vibe going on.

Best place to eat to this snack?

I believe I covered this quite thoroughly in my opening arguments. Prosecution rests.

Where were you when you ate this snack?

Laying on my bedroom floor listening to Tycho and drinking Boxed Water. Just an average Sunday night for an up and coming ultra internet celebrity. I’m sure Kevin Rose does the same thing on Sunday nights. Only cause he is trying super hard to be me. Poor kid. You’ll be big someday.

This stuff. Man, I love this stuff. I remember when my friend first introduced it to me. Like 99.9% of everyone else in the world I told him there was no way I was eating a “candy” that had chile peppers in it and is squeezed out of a fat syringe looking thing. I honestly can’t remember how he convinced me to try it – maybe he paid me, I have no idea. But oh boy, it changed how I view foreign snacks. Is it completely different than anything you’ve ever tasted before? I would assume thats the case for everyone who hasn’t lived in Mexico. Is it really delicious? Yes. This in fact might be the first “savory” tasting candy I’ve ever had. It’s got a pasty/sticky consistency with actual flecks of chile pepper mixed in with the sweet tamarindo extract. So sweet and spicy. But you really have to try it to “get’ it. Top 5 candy for me.

Best place to eat to this snack?

Honestly – I’m thinking some Myan ruins deep, deep in the jungles of Mexico. While on an expedition of some sort? With maybe an Indiana Jones kind of theme going on? Maybe? Or just my office is cool really.

Thoughts on the packaging?

You know – its weird. It truly is a fat syringe looking device that has a screen type thing where the candy comes out creating a pasta kind of effect. So its a bit weird, but so is the candy – so…well done on their part I’d say.

What kind of store did you find it at?

Actually, fun fact: you used to be able to get this at a lot of Walgreens. But I haven’t seen it there in a year or so. You’ll have to head South of the border or hit your local Mexican markets.

Did taste like it looks?

Thank goodness no. It really just doesn’t look good, no way around it. I suppose until you find out how good it tastes. Its kind of like: “She is…she’s just…she has a really GREAT personality.”

Did you finish the whole thing?

Yes. I certainly did. Actually, the seasoned Pelon Pelo Rico eaters know the trick of getting the extra bits out of it even after you think its finished. Requires a butter knife.

BONUS QUESTION: Why is there a French coin next to this Mexican candy?

Great question. Really great question. A friend gave it to me – said it was a Peso. We figured it’d play well with the Mexican theme. I never looked to confirm this. Even while shooting it in our little studio setup. Then we figured it’d be kind of funny to keep it in there…more so because I ate the whole thing and we didn’t have another one to shoot. Ha.

Ok. You are on spring break in Cancun right? and you and your friends are eating at some amazing Mexican restaurant enjoying all that our southern brothers have to offer when someone jokingly puts one of the raw jalapenos up to their mouth pretending they are going to bite it and everyone gasps……… and then laughter ensues. Harmless fun huh? Ok well now imagine that somehow that freshly picked jalapeno had fallen into a deep fryer with some batter on it earlier and that when you held it up to your mouth a rooster from the cock fighting ring in back of the restaurant comes flying out and startles you, causing you to drop said deep-fried fresh jalapeno into your mouth seeds and all. Then because of the excitement you bite into it. That, my friends, is the closest to describing what this snack tastes like in words. Somehow, in some magical way, these chips actually remind me of raw jalapenos. I feel like I can even taste the slight sweetness of the rind and then the heat of the seeds. They are magic chips. They are from another world. They are delicious.

Did you finish the whole thing?

Many many many bags before I wrote this review. And maybe even the actual bag because I don’t see if in my trash. I’m gonna Google what those are made out of real quick….

What kind of store did you find it at?

Luckily there is no trekking across town to find a bag of these. Any gas station worth their salt has these on hand all the time. Most of the time you can find big party bags of these at grocery stores also. Supply and demand. I demand that every store supplies these and some of them do. They listen to me. Sometimes.

Stand-alone snack or with something else?

Maybe it’s just because of my opening paragraph but I feel like a Pina Colada or Margarita of some kind would pair well with this. I generally go a little more high brow and pair it with a sleeve of little powdered donuts, teriyaki beef jerky, and some Mountain Dew. (check the twitter, I’m not kidding) But not everyone lives the high life like I do.

Sum up your experience eating this snack in one word.

Caliente!!

Best place to eat to this snack?

Beach snack for sure. You can soak up the sun and munch these all day. I often enjoy them in my windowless office while imagining I’m at a beach. I strip down to my boxers and cover my floor in sand and just kind of lay there on my office floor for hours eating these. I’m thinking about getting a coy pond installed. Not a lot of people come and visit me at my office strangely though. Maybe after the tanning bed comes I’ll have more friends…

Alright, so, I’m more known for my penchant for Kazoozles, Zebra Cakes, Beef Jerky, Gushers, etc. But you know, every once in a while you want something that, you know, is actual food as a snack. Don’t worry, my love of artificial flavors and colors isn’t going anywhere – I’m just showing my multi-disciplinary snacking ability. So, Good Life Granola – its about as simple as you’d want it to be. Ingredients: Oats, Pecans, Almonds, Brown Sugar, Maple Syrup, Canola Oil, Cinnamon, Sea Salt, and Vanilla. All natural. I was super hungry last night before I went to bed and this stuff hit the spot. Sweet and toasty is how I’d describe the taste. And, its a local company here in West Michigan so I’ve got a bit of bias.

Did you finish the whole thing?

Almost. But I’m finished it here at my office right now – actually had it for breakfast this morning too.

Who would like it better myself or Adam?

Honestly, I think Adam might like this more than I do – maybe. He’s got that hiker kind of vibe a little, drives a Jetta, wants a rack on it, wants a Subaru, wears a cycling cap when not cycling, etc. You know, granola-y things. (Haha, sorry Adam, joking, joking.) But, I didn’t give him any so I guess we’ll never know.

First word after your first bite? How about other words?

Toasty. Don’t know, just tasted nice and toasty to me. Not like actual bread-toast, but more like, toasted oats.

Thoughts on the packaging?

I think it could use a little work – doesn’t quite look as good as it tastes.

Where were you when you at this snack?

The first time? In my bed watching Hulu. Not as bad as crackers – but hindsight being 20/20, I wouldn’t do it again.

I'm just going to go out on the limb of the snack giving tree and say it: These are the most "proper" pretzels ever made. That's all there is to it. I feel 15-17% better about myself, and more important when I eat these. Thing is, they were only available in the large size bag for as long as I can remember having them - until I found that yesterday at a very random gas station somewhere in the middle of Michigan. The basic idea is that you've got a pretzel - but its flat. It's like the MacBook Air of pretzels. And something about them being so thin makes them somehow taste really, really good. Almost goes against snack physics, you know? These new snack size bags will let the average commoner enjoy what was once reserved as a pre-hors d'oeuvre, hors d'oeuvre at semi to averagely upscale dinner parties.

What kind of store did you find it at?

Again, used to only be at wine shops around town here, occasionally at the grocery store, but mostly more gourmet spots – this time I found at a BP gas station.

Napkin needed?

They call them linens Ben…linens. Not “napkins”, this isn’t a “shin-dig”…its a nice dinner. See, they have like 17 different forks at each setting…thats how you know its nice. Tuck your shirt in.

Best place to eat to this snack?

Somewhere its acceptable to have your pinky poking out as you enjoy each thin little crisp.

Sum up your experience eating this snack in one word.

Important.

Do they have any other flavors?

Yes, they do. Apparently a buffalo flavor? Kind of doesn’t match with the rest of their brand…but, this is Snak Snak, I’d try a buffalo flavor Twinkie.
