Corn Nuts…Chips!

Corn Nuts…Chips! Benjamin ate this on April 5, 2010

Yeah, I know. Me too. Couldn’t believe when Adam called me at 4:17AM to let me know that yes, in fact, Corn Nuts was making CHIPS…and selling them. I was just floored, floored. Not all of that is true, most of it isn’t actually. Anyway, I finally got my hands on a bag this past weekend only to learn Adam didn’t really care for them all that much – I on the other hand may have found a new go-to-gas-station classic. I’ll just say it, they’re like Fritos, but better. Honestly, they really are. Same kind of taste, filling you know, but they’re a bit less greasy/oily it seems. But what really ties it all in is their hilariously small size. About 1/4th the size of a quarter and the same thickness. It just makes them better – and I’m not going to try and explain why.

Thoughts on the packaging?

Pretty funny in that the first time you pop it open and realize they’re not even close to the size shown on the bag. They of course disclaim this in tiny little writing, but its almost like they did that on purpose. You’re quite surprised at the little guys.

Did taste like it looks?

I guess not really – mainly because I was expecting some sort of flattened Corn Nut which is of course its own unique flavor. These instead are a somehow better than Frtio, Frito taste.

Sum up your experience eating this snack in one word.

Pequeño.

High-brow or low-brow?

I’m going high-brow on this one mostly because its brand new, kind of exclusive, and you know how the high-brow set loves new stuff. Maybe its just new to Adam and I. If thats the case I’m sure we’ll get a bunch of comments about how we’re “not up on the latest”. Measure what they say in inches right?? This answer is too long.

Would you buy it again?

Yes. And this is one of the first snacks Adam and I had different opinions on – so while he was a bit “meh” about it, I’m all for it. So in eBay feedback language: “WOULD BUY AGAIN A++++ GREAT DEAL ASSET TO EBAY THX :)

I absolutely love them! I found them in Texas, and now that I’m home in Iowa no one has ever heard of them! I sure wish I could find them!

I saw these on amazon.com/groceries and snatched ‘em right up. Right now they are sold-out. They didn’t have the nutritional info on the site but i hope they have less fat than fritos…….

Hey, first off, nice name! lol I love the new corn nuts chips man they are delicious…i’ve only tried the ranch ones and they are great. Plus, when I went in to the gas station, they had a coupon for a dollar off a bag, so they were only like 55 cents! very delicious!

My company just did a test run of the Sante fe flavored corn chips, they are spectacular. Its weird to eat a chip that feels and tastes like a corn nut without having to worry about a busted tooth!
