Hello snaksnak world! Adam here. Back from a lengthy hiatus of a trip to Los Angeles: the land of many snacks. I think that is actually the city’s official tagline. Crazy huh? Today I’m gonna get back into things with a little ditty I found in a Mexican Bakery somewhere in LA; some crazy spoon candy thingy that I don’t understand. If I remember correctly Cucharazo De Tamarindo translates roughly into: “Melted apricot rubber on a plastic spoon and sprinkled with paprika” I think. My Spanish is a little rusty though. These are one of those international snacks that us snack reviewers dream about getting our hands on. When you have to hype yourself up to try a snack so you can review it on your website you know you are living the dream.
¡Ay, caramba!
Absolutely not. Not only was I terrified before I ate it, but my world imploded while eating it trying to pinpoint all the crazy flavors going on. But Ben ate like 3 while I nibbled on a quarter of one. Apparently he thinks they are the bees knees. He is apparently more well versed in worldly candy than I.
Not for my personal consumption. But if ever I find myself in a small bakery in LA again I would definitely pick up a pack for Ben. Man that guy is weird.
What….
Outside the Tacos Arizas truck in Echo Park after eating a delicious Carnitas Torta and some Mexican Coke.
I love this stuff. Adam got to do the spoons, but I’m going to do the sucker version and the other weird tube version as well. Most bizarre candy, but I love it.
